Flambeau River State Forest

Flambeau River State Forest

The Flambeau River State Forest, located in Sawyer, Price and Rusk counties, surrounds 75 miles of North and South forks of the Flambeau River. Canoeing down the Flambeau River is the most popular activity within the forest. Different portions of the river offer varying degrees of difficulty. The North Fork is ideal for the novice, while the South Fork, with its rushing rapids, is for the advanced paddler. The river and lakes are full of musky, sturgeon, trout, walleye, bass and panfish. The forest is open to public hunting for bear, waterfowl, deer and grouse, just to name a few.
