Camp Jorn

Camp Jorn YMCA in Manitowish Waters consists of 75 acres and includes Fox Island on Rest Lake (Manitowish Waters' 10-lake chain). It was developed as a summer estate by automobile manufacturer, Charles Nash. It was later purchased by H.H. (Jack) and Dorothy Dengel and became Camp Thunderbolt. In 1952 the YMCA of Waukegan, IL, purchased the camp and it became Camp Jorn. In 2007, it became an independent YMCA and continues services as a year 'round child care center, youth & family summer resident camp, summer day camp, and group retreat center. Weddings and special events are often held at Camp Jorn. Visitors are always welcome!

The North Lakeland Discovery Center

The North Lakeland Discovery Center is a community-based environmental learning center dedicated to exploring, preserving, and enhancing the Lakeland area's natural, cultural, and historic resources. The Center is located on a 66-acre site in the heart of northern Wisconsin's tranquil Lakeland destination region. Core values include a belief that the acquisition of knowledge and skills is a life-long undertaking. Through various means including recreation, discussion, display, and field study, The Discovery Center offers a diversity of experiential learning opportunities.

Little Bohemia Lodge

Site of John Dillinger and the Dillinger Gang's epic shootout with the F.B.I., the Lodge is also the modern day filming location for the Universal Studios film, PUBLIC ENEMIES. Known for great food and drink since the 1920's! Step back in history at the Lodge, and remember...Dillinger only left because he had to!

Cranberry Colorama

Cranberry Colorama is an annual event which celebrates the start of the autumn and cranberry harvest seasons in Manitowish Waters, sponsored by the Manitowish Waters Chamber of Commerce. Always held the last Saturday of September, Cranberry Colorama features free shuttle bus cranberry marsh tours courtesy of the Chamber and Manitowish Waters Cranberry Growers Association, fall color pontoon tours on the Manitowish Waters chain of lakes courtesy of the Manitowish Waters Lakes Association, nature education & activity booth sponsored by the North Lakeland Discovery Center & Bird Club, craft exhibitors, Manitowish Waters cranberry marshes DVD, Lioness bake sale, complimentary cranberry juice & Craisin samples, live music, Taste of Harvest featuring several of our fine area restaurants, and Cranberry Cooking Contest.

Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail

The Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail is a mapped auto trail that when complete, will reach into every area of the state. Full-color viewing guides with maps and descriptions of every site will lead the nature traveler to warblers, shorebirds, eagles, loons, cranes and all manner of mammals found in some of the states premier wildlife venues.

Powell Marsh State Wildlife Area

One of the sites highlighted on the new Great Wisconsin Birding & Nature Trail (Northwoods/Lake Superior region), Powell Marsh provides a parking area and vista as well as dikes to walk along. View a variety of bird species such as waterfowl, Bitterns, shorebirds, great blue heron, songbirds, marsh hawks, eagles, sandhill cranes, Northern harrier, LeConte's sparrow, short-eared owl, Nelson's sharp tailed sparrow, sharp tailed grouse, Henslow's sparrow, Black Terns and more! Bring binoculars. No entry area September through December during migration period.

Fish designated lakes in search of the elusive Musky in Manitowish Waters, Boulder Junction, Presque Isle and Winchester at the 34th Annual Musky Classic! Fishing hours are Friday, 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM; Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
