Next airdate: February 6-7, 2010

A true northwoods icon, Northernaire Resort in Three Lakes is an ideal vacation destination for your whole family. On this episode of Discover Wisconsin, we’ll take a trip back to the mid-1900’s, to find out why the famous luxury hotel was a favorite vacation destination of Hollywood stars like Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd, and boasted big-name entertainers like Bob Hope and Barbara Mandrell. Northernaire has recently undergone a major facelift, and with just one step through the entrance you’ll see why it once again deserves to be known as “The Waldorf of the Wildness.” We’ll also show off the area surrounding Northernaire, highlighting the 108 miles of shoreline on the world’s largest chain of freshwater lakes. Plus, we’ll venture into the Town of Three Lakes to see all it has to offer, including a trip to the Three Lakes Winery, home of Wisconsin’s very first cranberry wine. We’ll also check out a unique collection of historic gas pumps and other petroleum memorabilia at the Northwoods Petroleum Museum will make you want to book your trip to Three Lakes before the credits roll. All this and more as we discover “Northernaire – The Resurrection of a Northwoods Icon.”
