Lumberjack World Championships
2008 DW Destination

The Lumberjack World Championships began in 1960 as a way to honor the logging industry’s rich history in the United States and the sweat and tears of the lumber jacks who built it. Routine workday logging skills were turned into athletic events attempted only by the courageous. The event is now trademarked in Hayward, Wisconsin and entertains over 100 Lumber Jacks and Lumber Jills from all over the world in more than 21 events. The Lumberjack Bowl allows over 12,000 spectators to experience the athletes’ agility and precision in the chopping and sawing events as well as their grace and endurance in the log rolling and speed climbing events. The Lumberjack World Championships is an indispensable experience highlighting our past and present pride, courage and respect for an industry that made our country strong.
