Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
2009 Choice Destination
The Lake Superior Chippewa came down to the United States from Canada along the St. Lawrence waterway. The Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior came to Wisconsin’s Hayward area from Madeline Island and entered into treaties with the United States in 1837, 1842 and 1854. Today the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation is open to the public for outdoor recreation and family fun. The reservation is about 76,000 acres, 15,000 acres of which are water. Superior fishing and hunting are just a couple of the draws of the LCO Reservation. Hiking, biking and water sports of all kinds are a few more… and the people of Lac Courte Oreilles invite you to bring your family and experience the great outdoors that they have loved and honored for hundreds of years. Your next family vacation is waiting for you in the wilderness of the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation.
