Oconto County is made up of three distinctive regions, the Nicolet National Forest, Oconto River Valley and the Historic Bay Shores. It's a place where each season has its own magic moments. Its winters are a frosty wonderland full of beauty scenery. Winter activities abound with prime cross-country skiing and snowmobiling trails and ice fishing among other pursuits. Spring is comprised of refreshing bird songs and squirrel chatters. The smell of spring in Oconto County is refreshing, as the warm sun awakens the earth from its long winter nap. Summers are revitalizing with all of the energy of active sports and soothing with the opportunity for relaxation. A brisk swim followed by a nap in the hammock is always a favorite. And last but not least, is fall. Mother Nature unleashes various shades of Reds, gold’s, and rusts, intermixed with the deep greens and rich browns of Oconto's forests and farmlands. Try a canoe or boat ride and see the splendor from a completely different angle.

Ready, Set, Snow! - Northern Wisconsin Snowmobile Corridor

In this special episode we're exploring the thrill and excitement of snowmobiling, and the scenic beauty and adventure that comes along with it. We're focusing on four locations that are known for great snowmobiling. First, we'll visit Namakogen Lake and the Cable area, which are home to Lakewoods Resort, a spectacular place to make your base camp for a winter journey. Next, we'll head to Iron County, which boasts an average annual snowfall of 180 inches, and then we'll head to the "Eagle River 500" which winds through the beautiful Eagle River area. Finally, visit Oconto County; they have nine snowmobile clubs that maintain over 425 miles of trails for residents and visitors alike. This family fun activity can take you all over this great state, and with the interconnected Northern Wisconsin Snowmobile Corridor you don't even have to leave your sled. |
