Merrill, WI
2009 DW Destination
The legacy of the timber industry can be seen everywhere in Merrill from the old homes on the Historic Walking tour to the grand old Lincoln County Courthouse. Merrill is also proud of its parks and recreational activities. Ride the ATV trails of Harrison Hills, take on the mountain bike trails at the Underdown where you can also camp out with your horse and go for a ride the next day. There are festivals to enjoy such as the annual Barleyfest in honor of Lincoln Lager beer once brewed in Merrill by the Leidiger Brewing Company or the Ice Drag Races held on the frozen Wisconsin River in January and February. Rodeos are popular in Merrill from bull riding exhibitions at the Lincoln County Fair to the charity Rodeo Days event in June. Or you can always drop a fishing line in one of the many area lakes, sit back and relax. The places, the people and the many things to do make Merrill a Choice Destination.

Merrill and Tomahawk-Northwoods Treasures
Next Airdate: December 11-12, 2010
There’s more that connects the two Lincoln County neighboring communities of Merrill and Tomahawk than Highway 107 along the scenic Wisconsin River. There’s a shared history of the old lumber days as seen in their historic architecture, the rustic beauty of their northwoods location and the multitude of things to see and do in all seasons. Truly, Wisconsin treasures of the Northwoods. |
