Golf Courses of Lawsonia, WI
2009 DW Destination
More than two hundred years of rich history have gone into the making of the Golf Courses of Lawsonia in beautiful Green Lake, Wisconsin. Lawsonia was created in 1888, after a wealthy Chicago woman named Jessie Lawson was on a steamboat that ran aground during a storm. Jessie fell in love with the land where her party waited out the weather, and convinced her husband Victor to buy it for a summer estate. The Lawsons were only the first to develop this gorgeous property, and today you can see every modern amenity intermingled with signs of Lawsonia’s unforgettable past: legend says that hole number seven has a boxcar buried underneath it, and centuries-old structures dot the landscape, giving Lawsonia a richness and depth that you just can’t find anywhere else. Explore the two very different courses that are available at Lawsonia: the classic, Scottish-style Links Course and the more modern, Northwoods-inspired Woodlands Course. Each championship-quality course offers golfers the chance to enjoy a well-designed 18 holes’ worth of stunning panoramas.
