2008 DW Destination
There is a wide variety of things to do in a Chippewa Valley getaway. You can bike on the areas many bike trails surrounded by natural beauty. You can shop at the area’s unique stores and visit several museums and historical buildings. But there are some things you can do in the Chippewa Valley you can’t do anywhere else. Such as touring the home of Leinenkugel beer and the Leinie Lodge. A family business that’s gone big time. Another family owned Valley business is Silver Spring Foods the world’s largest grower and seller of horseradish and mustard products. If you’ve ever eaten a sub from Erbert and Gerbert’s you’ll want to visit the original family sub shop in downtown Eau Claire and get the story behind this quirky but wholesome place to eat. Just a few of the “unexpected” treasures you’ll find in the Chippewa Valley.

Next airdate: July 10-11, 2010
This week’s episode of Discover Wisconsin will feature the natural beauty of the Chippewa Valley that draws visitors year round. There are museums and historic places to see, unique stores to shop and B & B’s to spend the night but there are also some unique businesses that have their roots in the Valley. We’ll take the tour at the Leinenkugel Brewery. Sit in on a cooking class where you learn how to cook with horseradish, grown, processed and shipped around the world at the Valley’s Silver Springs Food plant. And if you’re hungry for more, we’ll get the story behind Erbert and Gerbert’s, another product of the Chippewa Valley.
