Freedom Fest began as a backyard BBQ in 2002 and has developed into one of the largest community events in the Janesville, Wisconsin area. It grew from a few friends and church family into a full-blown festival with an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 attendees. There are great attractions, delicious food and excellent stage performances. And, the best thing about it is, it’s free! They don’t charge admission; they don’t charge to park; they don’t charge for any rides; they don’t charge for the concert; and, they don’t charge for the fireworks. They even try to keep affordable food options, but you can also bring in your own food. That means you can enjoy an awesome day of fun and entertainment without hurting the pocket. The Day of Compassion has grown to become a regular part of Freedom Fest. Due to the generous partnership with Mercyhealth, they are able to offer free health screenings and health awareness information at the event. There is a children’s area with things like a corn crib, face painting, balloon animals and jump houses. There are carnival rides for the more adventurous and stage entertainment for those who just want to relax. And, of course, at the end of the night is an incredible fireworks display.
