Taking place in downtown Racine, The Monument Square Art Festival is one of the oldest and most respected juried fine arts fairs in Wisconsin. Throughout this two day festival, 70 artists from around the country will be exhibiting works in varied media including painting, photography, jewelry, textile, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media. Live entertainment will also be provided throughout the festival.
A new event to the festival this year is the Great Lakes Chalk Art Competition. This event will feature 24 regional chalk artists who will work on 4×4 Masonite panels positioned on 5th street between Wisconsin and Main Street. The artists will work on the panels throughout the day on Saturday which will allow the public to observe the process, interact with the artists, and cast their votes. Finished works will be displayed along 5th Street on Sunday.
An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday afternoon for both The Monument Square Art Festival and the Great Lakes Chalk Art Competition winners on Monument Square.
