The holiday spirit is warm, merry and bright in Evansville. This family-friendly event, traditionally hosted the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, is a great time to stroll in and out of shops all decorated with holiday finery. A few pop-up shops get into the festivity, too, occupying spare spaces in some of the historic buildings. Shop keepers stay open late Friday to entice you with special bargains, refreshments and good cheer. From 5 to 7pm “Storefront Stories” showcases adults and children reading in the large picture windows along Main Street. From 5 to 8pm, enjoy carolers, carriage rides and more. Saturday (10am), Santa arrives in the morning by local fire truck, a popular thrill with the kids! Feel free to join the roaming carolers, or just hang out with the kids. It’s all within the walkable historic district in Downtown Evansville.
