Syttende Mai Festival
Fri, May 14, 2010 - Sun, May 16, 2010
Time: 8:00 am - 11:00 pm
Westby Wisconsin has a proud Norwegian heritage that still exists today. The Syttende Mai (Seventeenth of May) Festival is a commemoration of Norway's independence, like the 4th of July for America. Come experience a parade in which many participants wear true Norwegian clothing for bygone days. See local artists display their Rosemaling skills. Food and music for everyone. There will be a book signing by well known Wisconsin author Jerry Apps. See Norwegian dancers from Gjovik, Norway. For the athletically inclined, participate in a 30, 60, or 100K bike tour, or walk/run a 5K course or a half marathon. There is even a three person best ball golf tournament at the picturesque Snowflake Golf Course.
