Air Date: 09/17/2020 -
The trails in Northern Langlade County are the lifeblood of the people who live there. Whether you are looking to explore by motor or muscle, the veins of the Northwoods await. In this Discover Wisconsin Digital Short, Eric heads to northern Langlade County to partake in some of the activities that make Langlade the “County of Trails.” Learn more about Langlade County here!
Located in the heart of Northern Wisconsin, Langlade County provides an abundance of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy. With 127,000 acres of impressive scenery available for year-round recreation, Langlade County is a destination for everyone in any season. Rivers and lakes blanket the area, creating a very inviting destination for fishing, canoeing and rafting. The famous Wolf River, located in the eastern part of Langlade County, is considered one of the best whitewater rivers in the Midwest! The Wolf offers everything from quiet calm water in the northern section to complex rapids in the southern sections. If you have a competitive edge, the annual Wolfman Triathlon challenges you to compete in a 3-mile downriver race on the Wolf River, a 13-mile off-road bike race, and a 3.5-mile rugged trail run every September. If exploring the outdoors is more your speed, we invite you to breathe the fresh country air as you hike, bike or ride along the many miles of trails. In the winter months there are over 500 miles of scenic and traverse snowmobile and ATV trails that will take you to all corners of this beautiful county. The vast forests featuring hills, kettles, and unmatched scenery make Langlade County a great destination for cross-country skiing. Antigo, the largest city and the county seat to Langlade County, offers plenty of shopping and dining along downtown’s Fifth Avenue. Specialty stores line both sides of the avenue and you will also find plenty of tasty eating establishments ranging from a quick bite to a fine dining experience.
