Get Outdoors

While the cool breezes have begun to take over the Wisconsin air, it’s important to get outside while we still can! We are lucky to have 66 state park units, making an outdoor adventure easy to make no matter where you’re in the state.
In the northern part of Wisconsin, a great place to enjoy the outdoors is Copper Falls State Park with ancient lava flows, deep gorges, and spectacular waterfalls making for a beautiful stop all year long! On the western side of the state, Merrick State Park is a fantastic spot to discover the backwaters of the Mississippi River by canoe or kayak! On the southern border, you can’t go wrong with getting out to explore Blue Mound State Park. Right atop the highest point in southern Wisconsin, you can enjoy over 20 miles of scenic hiking in the warmer days and head out cross-country skiing when the snow drops this winter. Lastly, on the eastern side of the state, you can’t miss out in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Whether you’re a big fan of horseback riding, hunting, biking, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling…you can really do it all on different segments of the KMSF!
As mentioned earlier, Wisconsin is home to so many beautiful places to get outside, catch a fresh breath of air, and get in some of your favorite exercises! Healthy foods aren’t hard to find in Wisconsin and we are lucky to have a large variety of farm-to-table restaurants all over the state! Wherever you are in Wisconsin, you can find a restaurant with healthy and creative dishes that make you feel as good from the inside-out.
In the Milwaukee area, Braise will give a mix of history and fresh meals while visiting. All of their food is handcrafted, seasonal, and fresh! On the western side of the state in Amery, you can find Farm Table Foundation. They work to bring local farm produce and proteins directly to the consumer with unique experience on each plate. Right in the heart of the state, L’Etoile in downtown Madison is a great place to indulge in farm-to-table dishes. They believe in supporting the local farmers and artisan producers to help build the community as well as promote healthy and wellness in their menus. One last stand-out farm-to-table restaurant in Wisconsin is, Field to Fork Cafe in Sheboygan. This restaurant, cafe, and grocery store are right downtown and feature the best of their local farmers and producers in their creative and simple dishes with the freshest ingredients they can find!
