So you’re a golfing enthusiast? We’ve got great news for you! Lake Geneva is home to some of the best all-around golf courses in the state and we have all of the inside details on the must-play courses in the area. Each course is home to its own style, unique layout, and beautiful views! Now… let’s get into six different golf courses in the Lake Geneva area that you need to add to your golf bucket list!
The first premier golfing destination in Lake Geneva is the Grand Geneva Resort. Not only does the Grand Geneva provide some of the best rolling hills for golf and the most gorgeous views of the fairways, but it is also a one-stop destination for a Lake Geneva getaway.
At the resort, you can find two different courses: The Brute and The Highlands. The Brute is rated as one of the best courses in the Midwest. The course is home to many sand traps and has gorgeous water features throughout. The Highlands course is known for its wide-open fairways and beautiful landscape of the rolling hills.
On top of the gorgeous golf scene that the Grand Geneva Resort boasts, there are plenty of other things to do onsite that make this a complete getaway. First off, you can plan your stay right at the lodge and take in the full experience of this resort. There are multiple dining options such as the Geneva Chophouse and Links Bar & Grill as well as plenty of options to relax at a cafe or lounge.
The next course to feature in Lake Geneva is the Geneva National Resort & Club. Right along the shores of Lake Como is this legendary golf destination that features three courses with 54 total holes. The three courses were created by well-known golf legends Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and Gary Player, and named after them as well!
The Arnold Palmer Course is known for its elevated tees and challenging greens. It is also one of the top 10 ranked courses in Wisconsin. Palmer himself stated that the 17th hole is one of his favorites in his personal ‘Dream 18’. Next, the Gary Player Course is one of Wisconsin’s award-winning golf experience courses. This course originally opened with just 9 holes in 1995. In 2000, Gary Player returned to complete the 18-hole course filled with risk-reward golf! The final course at the Geneva National Resort is the Lee Trevino Course. This course goes along the rolling countryside of Wisconsin and is known as a challenging yet forgiving course.
Geneva National Resort & Club also provides a one-stop destination for those coming in from out of town and looking to get a full weekend or week experience in town. There are plenty of accommodations at the resort between the cottages, suites, and ridge hotel. Along with that, the resort also provides plenty of award-winning dining opportunities from smokehouse bites to eat all the way to their premier steakhouse!
Another must-play course in Lake Geneva is the Majestic Oaks Golf Course at Lake Lawn Resort. This championship golf course first opened in 1929 and offers scenic views of Delevan Lake. The course is set along 250 acres and is known for the sand bunkers throughout.
This course is open to guests, members, and visitors all season long and even features the Majestic Oaks Clubhouse and the Clubhouse Sports Bar & Grill. And, if you’re newer to golf or you’re wanting to learn from one of their PGA Pro you can do so with private lessons right at the course!
Like the other resorts, you can also extend your stay in the area at the Lake Lawn Resort. They have plenty of cozy lakeside accommodations in their resort rooms, suites, and even a lake house! Other than golf, there is much fun to be had on the lake during the summertime, and time spent at Lake Lawn Resort is an experience you won’t forget.
If you’re looking for a more affordable option for a golfing experience, Evergreen County Club is the place for you! Just minutes from downtown Lake Geneva is Hawk’s View Golf Club. This club is home to two courses: Como Crossings, and Barn Hollow! First, we can’t go on without talking about Como Crossings and how stunning this championship golf course is. This 18-hole course is the only 5-rated course in Lake Geneva and has dramatic changes of elevation, mature trees, scenic wetlands, and is extremely pristine.
The other course at Hawk’s View is Barn Hollow. This par-3 course is a Top 10 Nationally rated course with yardages ranging between 67 to 222. More specifically, according to GolfPass’s article ‘Top 25 ‘short courses’ in the United States, according to your reviews’ published in 2016, Barn Hollow was ranked #2! This course is perfect for anyone looking to get more into golf all the way to scratch players.
Along with the golf, Hawk’s View Golf Club has a terrific restaurant right onsite that is known for its exceptional food options. Tail Feathers, the bar and grill at the club, is a rustic and relaxing environment to sit back, relax, and grab a meal or a drink.
Along the southern shores of Geneva Lake lies Abbey Springs. This naturally beautiful area boasts one of the most outstanding 18-hole courses in the area. Abbey Springs is set among the rolling hills of the lake and has views throughout of the lake. Originally, the course was created in 1970 and then renovated and redesigned between 1988 and 2012. This spring, the course undertook a $2.5 million dollar renovation project making it truly one of the most pristine in the area.
Abbey Springs offers lessons as well at the course for adults and juniors (16 & under) for those looking to get into the swing of things! Not only do they offer lessons but they also have golf leagues for ladies, men, and even junior golf. Junior golfers can learn the fundamentals and get ready to bring their game to the next level in the summer months with Abbey Springs.
Along with many of the other courses, Abbey Springs is a one-stop destination for a golfing getaway with plenty of other things to do onsite. The Clubhouse Grille serves breakfast and lunch with seasonally changing menus. Along with that, there is live entertainment on most Fridays and Saturdays!
