Columbia County

In this episode of Discover Wisconsin, hosts Mariah Haberman and Marie Justice take us to four communities in Columbia County: Portage, Poynette, Cambria and Columbus. Marie starts things off in the county seat of Columbia County, Portage. Plentiful parks with great amenities, including a beautiful beach, a splash pad, a fishing pond, and a skatepark, make this city ideal for families with kids in tow. In Poynette, Mariah gets her feet wet at the annual grape stomp event at Rock n Wool Winery. The Poynette area also has a number of other great places to enjoy the outdoors during all of Wisconsin's seasons, including the MacKenzie Center, Lapacek's Orchard, and Creek Bed Country Farmacy. Nestled in the hills of northeastern Columbia County is the Village of Cambria. Here, we take you to a bar and restaurant called The Dump, which in addition to cooking up amazing food (including an award winning Fish Fry) and being a great place to hang out, is busy making a big difference in the community. Lastly, we make our way to Columbus, a city that boasts a rich history, beautiful architecture, and friendly establishments. Columbia County is truly Madison's beautiful backyard country, complete with friendly towns full of tradition, and fun, interactive things that get you outside.
