Ebert’s Greenhouse Village: The History and People

Ebert’s Greenhouse Village: The History and People

A colorful escape in Ixonia, Wisconsin, Ebert’s Greenhouse Village serves as more than just a location for buying your favorite plants. A home for trees, flowers, and vegetables to flourish, Ebert’s is also a home to its staff and many Jefferson County locals.

Ebert’s started in the early 1900s as a dairy farm run by Mark Ebert’s (the current owner) grandparents. Mark’s dad, Milton, eventually took over the farm and transitioned into vegetable farming in the early 1970s with Mark’s brother, Ron. To foster vegetable growth, they handcrafted Ebert’s first greenhouse. Eventually, they also started growing flowers. In 1990, Mark and Ron went into business together after Mark bought the farm from their dad. Mark currently has one daughter, Sierra, who hopes to be working at Ebert’s full time in the not-too-distant future.

The legacy of great people working at Ebert’s continues, allowing it to provide a tranquil retreat for so many who visit today.
