Since its inception in 2011, Art Infusion has continued to evolve and bring positive attention to the community, its attractions and especially the downtown area. In addition to the sidewalk chalk art competition, there are opportunities for attendees of all ages to draw for fun. In 2020, a painted wall mural component was added and continues to be a highlight of the event. This year, 5 new murals will be added downtown during Mural Week, September 4 – 12, and a series of meet-the-artist events are planned, as well as guided walking tours, live music, storytelling, and a street festival. Visit the website for a schedule and location of events. Chalk art competitors are invited to register in advance or during the event at the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, where chalk, gloves and sponges will be provided and the artist location assigned. Two featured chalk artists will create large scale temporary murals on the sidewalks at Firehouse Park and BMO Harris Bank. Painted wall mural artists are from around the United States, including featured wall mural artist David Mark Zimmerman (aka Bigshot Robot) of Milwaukee, WI; Ivan Roque of Miami, FL; Nathan Brown of Chattanooga, TN; Ruben Aguirre of Chicago, IL; CJ Hungerman of Chicago, IL and Emily Balsley of Madison, WI, who is doing a special art installation called My Pet Park. Featured chalk artists are Leigh Alfredson of Orlando, FL and Stacey Williams-Ng of Milwaukee, WI.
