DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Beloit Kubb Open will be the eleventh kubb tournament hosted in Beloit\, Wisconsin but the very first with competition under the lights! Teams of two can register for the competition that is set for Saturday\, August 9th at Pohlman Field. Registration will begin at 1:00 p.m. with play set to start at 2:00 p.m. After the qualifying rounds every team will be seeded into one of the elimination brackets to play for a title! \nApproximate game times are as follows:\n2:00-2:25 p.m. – Qualifying Round #1\n2:30-2:55 p.m. – Qualifying Round #2\n3:00-3:25 p.m. – Qualifying Round #3\n3:30-3:55 p.m. – Qualifying Round #4\n4:05-4:30 p.m. – Qualifying Round #5\n4:45-5:10 p.m. – Qualifying Round #6\n5:25-5:50 p.m. – Qualifying Round #7 \nDinner break from approximately 5:50 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. \nBracket play will start at approximately 6:30 p.m. \nTeam registration is now open! SUMMARY:Beloit Kubb Open
DESCRIPTION:Beloit will welcome the kubb community back to Beloit for the Beloit Kubb Open on Saturday\, August 10\, 2024 at Pohlman Field. Traditionally\, the event has hosted 49 teams from seven states. All skill levels are invited to compete to win cash prizes where the payout has averaged almost $1\,400 per tournament.\n\nThe event is owned and managed by Visit Beloit with assistance from event director\, Dan Ivanuck. Organizers are excited to welcome players back to Beloit for the tenth year of kubb action and to showcase everything the community has to offer for visitors.\n\nTeam registration will open mid-March.\n\nSpectators are welcome to spend the day with us and cheer on the teams! The Beloit Youth Hockey Association will be on-site selling food and beverages to benefit their local programs and athletes.\n\nApproximate game times are as follows:\n9:00-9:25 a.m. – Qualifying Round #1\n9:30-9:55 a.m. – Qualifying Round #2\n10:00-10:25 a.m. – Qualifying Round #3\n10:30-10:55 a.m. – Qualifying Round #4\n11:05-11:30 a.m. – Qualifying Round #5\n11:45 a.m.-12:10 p.m. – Qualifying Round #6\n12:25-12:50 p.m. – Qualifying Round #7\n\nBracket play will start at approximately 1:00 p.m.\n\nThe championship bracket will be best of three\, while all other brackets will be single elimination.\n\nWhat is Kubb and how do you play?\n– Kubb (pronounced koob) is a lawn game where the objective is to knock over wooden blocks (kubbs) by throwing wooden batons (kastpinnar) at them. Kubbs will be set up on both ends of Pohlman Field (also known as “pitch”) and the “king”\, a larger wooden block\, is placed in the middle of the pitch. Knock over the kubbs on the opposing side of the pitch\, and then knock over the king before the opponent does.
