We are always discovering the little nooks and crannies of Wisconsin -from delicious foods to eat AND Instagram, to adventurous ATV/UTV trails! What if Wisconsin can provide you all that AND that oh–so-perfect day? It’s the day you have been dreaming about since you were young: your wedding day. Let’s start from the beginning. Where the heck are you going to have it? Well what are you in to?
How about that perfect barn? Come on. You’ve seen it all over Pinterest! You can totally imagine those fresh picked flowers sitting there in the mason jars with a glimpse of the beautiful fall colors peeking through the background as you look up. You see those stringed lights beaming from up above and the smell of fresh air as you turn around and are officially pronounced husband and wife for the first time. I’d invite you to take a peek at Munson Bridge Winery in Owen, Wisconsin. Oh yeah, they would have you covered!
Let’s go back to my first statement: Food. Wisconsin has, let’s face it, numerous sought-after foods. Food trucks are making those Wisconsin food cravings (dreams) for the out of town guests a reality. Now, you don’t have to have your whole wedding centered around a food truck….I’m not suggesting that the bride come down the aisle honking the horn of a food truck with Wendy the Wisconsin cow on it (that would be kind of funny) BUT how wonderful would it be to have one of them serving fresh grilled Wisconsin cheeses, deep-fried cheesecake or even pizza topped with Wisconsin specialty cheeses for when the night falls and the dancing begins. My mouth is watering. Check out Gouda Girl’s out of Milwaukee. Please.
Pressing on….Breweries have totally been on the “hip list” for weddings (is there even one?) the past couple of years. If you already know that Wisconsin has some of the best cheeses then you obviously know that it also has some of the BEST brews. I’m not 100% sure you’re making all the bride’s dreams come true…but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that you’re probably making the groom’s. One of the most popular breweries is the Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee. With a beautiful and historic building in your pictures’ background (and maybe the occasional picture with a Pabst in your hand), it’s hard to go wrong.
Pabst isn’t the only venue in Milwaukee that gets to show off its history while you say “I do.” The Milwaukee Public Museum is another historical sweet spot for a wedding. How could a night under the stars in the planetarium room not make you gush! Or even a trip to the Hay Market Candy shop for a special vintage “late night treat? One word: Magical.
Do you have guests traveling from all over the state? May I suggest the brand new Alumni Welcome and Conference Center on the UW-Oshkosh campus. The building itself is state-of-the-art and the view of the Fox River? Well, you’ll have to see for yourself!
I haven’t even scratched the surface here! (Seems like Milwaukee is where it’s at!) Did you get married here in Wisconsin? What venue did you get to start your story?
A northwoods gal, Abbey Maillette hails from Sayner, Wisconsin, and currently lives with her husband and their three children in Eagle River. When she’s not chasing her kids around, you can catch Abbey on the ice pond with a hockey stick in hand or singing along to one of her favorite country jams at one of Wisconsin’s many music festivals.
