Ho-Chunk History
Ho-Chunk History
In recognition of National Native American Heritage Month, Discover Wisconsin is releasing a series of four original shorts created in partnership with the Ho-Chunk Nation. Throughout this series, we will meet members of the Ho-Chunk Nation and learn about their efforts to be upstanding tribal members and good neighbors in their communities at large.
In this segment we meet Annita RedCloud, the daughter of Ho-Chunk Veteran Mitchell RedCloud Jr. We look to the past and learn of Mitchell RedCloud’s accomplishments in the US Marine Corps during World War II as well as his service and sacrifice in the US Army during the Korean War. His service awarded him two Purple Heart Medals as well as a Medal of Honor and many others. Annita believes that no one is truly dead unless they are forgotten. Join us in learning about this hero from the past and help keep his memory alive today.
