The Trails

In the Stevens Point Area, there are a plethora of trails to get out for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more allyear long! One of the top trails in the area is the Green Circle Trail. This 27-mile hiking and biking trail loops through Stevens Points forests, parks, wetlands, and goes right along the Wisconsin and Plover Rivers. The trail started in 1989 and since then, Portage County community members have played a large role in developing the trail that encircles the entire community. The best part about the Green Circle Trail? You can make an entire day trip out of it by exploring the 27-mile trail, or you can hop on a single segment for a shorter trip. Check out a map here.
For a family fun day, go head out on the trail right on the campus of the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point. Schmeeckle Reserve. This 280-acre conservancy area is open to the public and has 5 miles of trails and boardwalks to explore. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and you can check out a map here.

‘Charming’ is certainly one way to explain downtown Stevens Point! From local boutiques to foodie hotspots, you can find it all in downtown. During the summer months, be sure to stop downtown on the square for live music on Wednesday nights. Or, if you’re more of a farmers market type…Saturday mornings are the time for you!
Downtown Stevens Point is home to local shops like Agora Makers Market, Gepetto’s Workshop, Bria Bella & Co, and Diversi-Tea. From shopping for your new favorite outfit to finding locally made goods, it makes for many great days exploring the city. And after a day full of shopping or maybe after a day on the job, there is a large amount of delicious eats to find in downtown. At Chef’s Kitchen, you can find a scratch kitchen that changes periodically based on what the chef wants to serve up! Or, if you’re more into a bar and grill experience, Guu’s on Main has a wonderful outdoor patio for summer days and delicious food and drinks to go along.
If Stevens Point is the community that you’re striving to live in, know that you too can find a career with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems. Not only will you be allowed to find your own work-life balance but you really can have it all!
