Buckle up as Andrea hits the trails and travels back in time to Camp Five Logging Museum in Laona. Andrea then ventures south to Madison, home to Forest Products Laboratory. Here, Andrea dives into the world of forestry science, learning the uses and anatomies of trees, to name a few. From there, Andrea sets out to discover the more practical uses of wood, such as building tiny homes and places like Boulder Ridge Treehouse in Bayfield. From Boulder Ridge to barrels of whiskey in Cambridge, Andrea is off to Dancing Goat Distillery to get word on the flavorful combination of whiskey and wood. More awaits in Medford, where Bear Butt Carvings spark Andrea’s creativity (and foodie cravings). After a barbeque stop at Smokey Woods, she is ready to head back north to see the Ruffed Grouse Society and visit the inspiring Trees for Tomorrow.

Each of these supper clubs provides a unique fine dining experience and is rooted in family tradition. Take a seat at the table and hear it all, from rich beginnings to secret recipes. We begin at Ishnala, located on the shores of Mirror Lake, where visitors can experience the unique blend of nature and fine dining. Aside from the delicious dishes, there are scenic walking trails, beach areas, historic architecture, live music scenes, and several bars to discover on site. For 71 years and counting, visitors continue to come back for more, only adding to the long-lasting history–remnants of which can be found in the dining room today. Later on, Lindsey follows her senses to another treasured supper club–The Del-Bar. Here, Lindsey experiences an all-new level of fine dining, while learning about the rich history. Honoring 81 years of business, The Del-Bar spans across generations, keeping much intact, including Nonnie’s homemade recipes. Getting a taste of true Del-Bar magic, Lindsey discovers the community connection, passionate long-time employees, and Del-Bar’s use of locally sourced ingredients.

Originally established on October 14, 1944 by women’s leadership organizations, the surrounding Wisconsin community wanted to create a memorial, a reminder of the sacrifice for freedom for those who served in World War II. Even though it has evolved with time, the War Memorial Center continues to symbolize the sacrifices made and battles fought by brave veterans through its design and mission.

The War Memorial Center, by design, is unique and unlike any other, designed by veteran and architect Erro Saarinen. Each of the building’s element, from its physical features to its orientation, carry significance, resembling moments from battle and reflecting places to ponder.

It’s mission–to honor the dead and serve the living–solidifies this profound symbolism. Within the building, instrumental veteran organizations and auxiliary programs operate to help the living and serve fellow brothers and sisters.

Hear the heartfelt stories of veterans Julian Plaster and Nick Gomez, and his family’s generational history of serving our nation. Pairing their brave sacrifice with resilience efforts by living and breathing organizations within the building, the War Memorial Center is unmatched; it’s a place to reflect upon our freedoms and a place to learn.
