    The Rock County Historical Society hosts this annual festival on the grounds of the historic Lincoln-Tallman House. The festival is juried and draws artists from throughout the Midwest to display fine arts and studio crafts in a variety of media and styles. This year's festival theme is "Art in Nature". The Society will feature their annual pie auction from 12:15 to 1pm that showcases homemade pies,as well as a silent auction for some great items. There will also be a kids area where children can enjoy fun crafts. The Tallman Arts Festival (TAF) is a community-wide event that annually celebrates art, culture, and entertainment from Rock County and beyond. As a one-day festival, the TAF is Rock County Historical Society’s largest event, drawing more than 100 different artists and more than 3,000 visitors to the RCHS campus.

This catapulted them into touring, where they were met with extreme success and popularity. They have toured throughout the United States and Canada, in the United Kingdom, France, and Japan.

In the beginning of October in 1857, Abraham Lincoln visited Beloit and Janesville, staying overnight at the residence of William Morrison Tallman and attending Sunday morning church at First Congregational in Janesville. In honor of his visit to our community, we are inviting Lincoln back for a three day weekend, featuring tours of the Lincoln-Tallman House, games, music, Lincoln movie, breakfast and a car show. On Friday, Lincoln will arrive in Janesville at noon and spend the afternoon with a secret lucky Elementary School. Join him from 6-8pm at the Janesville Country Club where you can enjoy a great dinner, get your pictures taken, and possibly win a great prize. Saturday from 11am - 4pm, greet Lincoln in a welcome ceremony at the Lincoln-Tallman House. Come enjoy a day on the lawn with your entire family and participate in fun 19th century games, hear some fun live music and take a tour of the home. See where Lincoln slept when he stayed with the Tallmans and hear the humorous story of how he missed his train back to Illinois. On Sunday at 10am, attend a service at the First Congregational Church in Janesville much like Lincoln did with the Tallman family on October 2, 1857. Afterwards, enjoy some doughnuts and coffee with him before making your way back to the Lincoln-Tallman House for Rock County Historical Society's first-ever car show: Lincolns on the Lawn. The car show will run from 11:30am to 3pm.

    Come out and watch the national championship Rock Aqua Jays Waterski Team from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team is a leading tourist and entertainment attraction in Janesville, Wisconsin. The team performs twice weekly water ski shows and is the most successful water ski show team in the world with 59 total tournament victories since 1975, including 18 U.S. national championships. The Rock Aqua Jays use its shows as a platform for teaching its members and the general public about safe boating and water-skiing techniques.

  • Northleaf Winery Play

    Want to try some wine and chocolate pairings for yourself? Head to Northleaf Winery. In 1844, a merchant named John Alexander came to Milton. 1850 began the wheat era in Wisconsin and John grew wheat, and built a lime mortar warehouse in the fashion of the Joseph Goodrich buildings, to store his grain and his neighbor’s grain.When the warehouse was full he would take the wheat to Milwaukee to barter for goods he and his neighbors needed. 162 years later, John Alexander’s wheat warehouse still stands. It has since housed several businesses. In 1914 the Park Place Garage opened in the building, with a blacksmith shop, a repair shop, and a showroom for Overland Autos. The Sunnyview Orchard began selling apples and cider out of the warehouse around 1946, continuing for over forty years. It was put on the National Registry of Historic places in 1978. In 2007, construction of an addition and restoration of the building began in order to become the home of Northleaf Winery, licensed in 2008 and officially open on February 11, 2009.

  • The Armory Play

    History meets arts and culture at The Armory in Janesville. Take in a musical or comedy show and dine in the Armory restaurant. Originally built in 1930 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Armory features a stunning array of brickwork, terrazzo floors, and decorative iron. Soldiers from the National Guard that later became Company “A” of the 192nd Tank Battalion during World War II, a group also known as the “Janesville 99″, trained at the Armory prior to World War II. The facility served as a mustering center for these soldiers who were deployed to the Philippines in 1941 and ultimately forced into the infamous Bataan Death March. Today, after several years of being vacant, the building’s exterior has been preserved to retain its historical significance, while the interior combines modern décor and elegance with original elements, making the Armory the area’s most exciting entertainment venue. The Armory offers three distinct dining experiences. The Drill Hall Theater combines elegant dining in a theater setting with professional musical productions. Modern, casual dining and an outdoor patio are featured in the Bunker Lounge. Fine dining, specializing in American and French cuisine, is found in the sophisticated atmosphere of the Lieutenants Restaurant.

  • Art Infusion, Along the Janesville Mile See

    Test your artist skills, or walk around and enjoy the chalk street art at Janesville’s Art Infusion event. Art Infusion…along the Janesville Mile was developed to enhance art appreciation, art education and community spirit while showcasing downtown Janesville (the Janesville Mile) to residents and visitors alike. This 2-day event will feature the chalk art creation by Jones and a competition for all ages. The event will run from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday. A chalk art class, led by Jones will take place on Friday.
