It’s that time of year! Welcome to Wisconsin—home to more than 30 ski hills and hundreds of acres of open terrain to enjoy.
While winter sports have always been a great way to get your body moving in the cool temperatures, this year comes with an extra bonus. Our friends at Skiing Wisconsin are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for recreation during the pandemic. They have been ensuring that all standard gear while skiing includes face coverings, and all slope etiquette means maintaining distance between other skiers or snowboarders.

Time to shred! Here are some of our favorite slopes to hit this winter:
Sunburst Winter Sports Park (Kewaskum)
This location north of West Bend is home to the largest tubing facility in the world! They also have 11 runs and 2 terrain parks with 45 chutes. Plus, you can experience a 90-foot drop in elevation. It’s true: this location literally has something for every winter sports fan!
Keyes Peak (Florence)
This beautiful spot sits on the largest hill in Florence County and is ready for those looking to play in the Northwoods. At this ski hill, you’ll find an exciting 230-foot vertical drop and a 450-foot run. Plus, among their skiing opportunities, they also offer downhill tubing, cross country skiing and great snowshoeing trails.

Grand Geneva (Lake Geneva)
Talk about a one-stop-shop for every type of winter enthusiast! The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has 18 runs on 30 acres, a terrain park, and a 211-foot vertical drop to keep you busy skiing all day long. But that’s not all: Grand Geneva also offers options for those who want to ice-skate, sled, snowshoe, or embark on a cross-country ski trek. Need a little R&R after spending hours on the hill? This Lake Geneva gem also has an incredible spa and salon inside to recharge.
Granite Peak (Wausau)

This location is a favorite here at Discover Wisconsin! If you are in the central Wisconsin area, you need to head out to Wausau and check out the site that is setting the standard for creating customer-friendly lifts in the Midwest. They have over 200 acres, 68 trails, and 4 terrain parks; aka there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
You can access all 700 vertical feet by one of the Midwest’s most modern lift systems that includes the state’s only high-speed six-pack and two high-speed quads. This is also a great ski spot for any age and skill level! Beginners are always welcome at Granite Peak and they have 3 lifts just for those ready to learn.
Bruce Mound Winter Sports Area (Merrillan)
This beautiful spot in Clark County is meant for those who want to switch up their ski routine. They lined their slopes with lights to make for a fantastic nighttime adventure! Bruce Mound also boasts state-of-the-art snow-making and grooming capabilities making every day like a fresh snowfall. There’s always a day of fun ahead of you and the fam at Bruce Mound!
