“You must travel an awful lot!” That’s what most of our viewers say upon meeting us in person, and they’re absolutely right. Buckle up and join us during a month on the road with Discover Wisconsin.
Day 1: Milwaukee

It’s Discover Wisconsin Day at the Wisconsin State Fair and you can bet we were up at the break of dawn. What better way to kick off our month of travel than with thousands of smiling faces and a good old fashioned cream puff?!
Day 2: St. Germain and Eagle River

After a long drive up to Wisconsin’s Northwoods, we get to stretch our legs zip lining at Kartway in Eagle River and mini-golfing at The 19th Hole in St. Germain. And for lunch we get our grub on at Pig in the Pines, a St. Germain staple known around the country for their mouth-watering ribs.
Day 3: Sayner
Today is a big one in Sayner, a town of 200 located just north of St. Germain, because it’s the inaugural Sayner Street Fair. Main Street shuts down and festivalgoers mingle among crafts, art and history. We spend our afternoon at Plum Lake 9-Hole Golf Course, one of Wisconsin’s oldest nine-hole courses. Say no more, Sayner, we’re enchanted.
Day 4: Ashland
SUP today!—Stand Up Paddleboarding, that is. We’ve heard before that the Apostle Islands are one of the best places for stand-up paddleboarding, and now we know why! By the end of the day, we’re exhausted, and luckily we’re headed home for a quick weekend before we’re back on the road.
Day 7-9: Houghton, MI
Michigan?! Yes, you read that right. We’re headed to Keeweenaw Base Camp where Wisconsin-based nonprofit Angel On My Shoulder holds an annual summer retreat for teens affected by cancer. This weekend is filled with extreme outdoor adventures—scuba diving, sea kayaking, repelling, and spelunking—all in the company of some of the bravest, most inspiring young people we’ve ever met. What a truly humbling couple of days.
Day 10: Keshena
Today we’re shooting footage for an upcoming commercial at Menominee Casino and Resort. Renovation construction is underway, but we can already tell this will be one of our favorite getaway resorts!
Day 12-13: Eagle River and Sayner

We’re back up north for two days to film the Paul Bunyan Festival in Eagle River and the Plum Skiers Waterski Show in Sayner. It’s days like these that remind us why we love our job so much!
Day 14-16: Eau Claire and River Falls
These days are all about fun in the sun—fishing, tubing, live music in the park, and a whole lot of America’s pastime—baseball!
Day 17-18: Eagle River
For the third time we’re back in Eagle River to film some diehard fishermen at the state’s largest musky fishing competition—the National Championship Musky Open Tournament. The event itself spans three days and draws more than 1,000 contestants every year.
Day 19-20: Red Cliff
For two days, we spend time at the Lake Superior Traditional Ways Gathering—a weeklong festival that celebrates the diversity of traditional living skills from all perspectives. On our second day, members of the Red Cliff Tribe invited us to embark on that day’s fishing excursion. We spent nine hours on the water and returned after a full day’s work with a boatload of fish—literally!
Day 21: Stevens Point
After a few hours on the road, we’re in Stevens Point for a behind-the-scenes look at SentryWorld Golf Course and Sports Complex . You might have heard of SentryWorld before without even knowing—Hole 16 is known around the world for its breathtaking flower beds. Behold, the Flower Hole.
Day 22-24: Ashland
Today we’re headed to Kakagon Sloughs on the Bad River Reservation, home to the largest gathering of wild rice in the world. Quintessentially symbolic of the Bad River Tribe, the wild rice harvest coincides with their annual Pow Wow. We’re so grateful for days like these that remind us of our state’s rich heritage.
Day 28: Discover Wisconsin Headquarters
Before heading home to hang our hats and officially mark the end of our month on the road, we’re headed to the office to unload equipment and begin archiving photos and videos.
Day 29: Home
It’s been a whirlwind, that’s for sure. All in all we traveled a total of 3,500 miles over the past month and visited 47 counties! As the saying goes, it’s all in a day’s—or month’s—work!
