Barn Quilt Tours
I spy with my little eye… barn quilts! As you drive along to the beautiful destination of Calumet County, keep a lookout for their iconic barn quilts scattered throughout the county! These barn quilts are made from plywood, painted, and hung on the very peak of many barns in the area. Not only are they unique artworks, but they also hold a deeper meaning in celebrating the rich agricultural heritage of Calumet County.
New barn quilts are routinely built, painted, and hung, and each one is different from the next. They are named and become popular attractions to admire. To name a few well-known ones in the area that you will want to add to your tour, check out Blue Star, Pineray, and Brown-Eyed Susan.
Calumet County invites you to take the tour and drive to see these unique attractions. Spread all throughout the county are beautiful barn quilts that you must see for yourself. For a map of the tour’s route, grab the Calumet County Visitors Guide and let your scenic drive begin!
Agrotourism in the Area
The barn quilt tour isn’t the only way to celebrate Calumet County and its agriculture… celebrate through endless amounts of farm fun! There are many agricultural attractions that offer hands-on experiences to enjoy farm life. From catching fish, and picking fruits and pumpkins, to playing with all sorts of farm animals, Calumet County’s farm fun will not disappoint!
Interested in heading out to catch fish? You’ll want to visit Evergreen Valley Fish Farm where you can experience catching either a perch or bluegill! You can pick which pond you’d like to fish from any of the three on the farm.
If you’re interested in picking a variety of fruits, there are many orchards in the area such as Heritage Orchard! This orchard is especially beautiful as the fall season begins, with Lake Winnebago as the scenic background. You can pick from sixteen different types of apples. And to top it off, taste their sweet apple baked goods and award-winning apple cider!
Polly’s Pumpkin Patch also grows strawberries you can pick in the summer, and when fall comes you’ll want to get your pumpkins at this patch. Each year, they grow thousands of pumpkins that are each unique with their own size and color. Polly’s also puts on a huge corn maze that is 15 acres big! See if you can solve it or if you’re wanting a more calm experience you sit back and relax and enjoy a hayride.
At Mulberry Lane Farm, you can get up close to the farm animals and get a true farming experience! Not only can you pet and play with all sorts of animals on the farm, but you will also have many opportunities to experience life on the farm like milking a cow!
Local Breweries & Dining
After a day’s adventure on the farm, kick back and relax at a local brewery or restaurant!
