Frozen Waterfalls

Did you know that Marinette County is the waterfall capital of Wisconsin? That’s right! And in the winter, they are even more spectacular and will most definitely leave you speechless! There are 15 waterfalls to choose from when planning your exploration, but here are just a few highlights showcasing the endless beauty of Marinette County.

Start your frozen adventure off at Dave’s Falls, a Marinette County fan-favorite! It’s easily accessible, right of US 141! And the views? Absolutely stunning!

Explore the beauty of snow-covered trails at Strong Falls, inside Goodman Park. Here, you can get an up-close look at a frozen waterfall or hike the nearby trails over to McClintock Rapids. Be sure to bring along your boots and snowshoes to get the most out of these gorgeous views!

Just a short walk from the nearby parking lot, Veteran’s Falls lies frozen in all its beauty! Experience the views from the viewing platform below the falls or from the bridge atop the falls.

Snowmobile Trails

Ready to hit the snowy trails? Grab your gear and head out to the over 750 miles of snowmobile trails throughout Marinette County! One thing that makes this county unique is their winter ATV/UTV trails! Many counties don’t have winter-time ATV trails, but Marinette County has 250 miles of trails ready to ride.

All of the trails in the county are well-maintained, thanks to local volunteers and clubs! There are 7 trail systems they provide for you to ride and each year, depending on trail conditions, all of Marinette County’s finest trail systems are open for you to enjoy! These hundreds of miles of trails are linked to the 25,000 miles found within Wisconsin’s statewide trail system! The trails in Marinette County are pristine and well-connected to area resorts, restaurants, and even equipment rentals to help complete your excursion!

Ice Fishing

With over 900 miles of rivers and streams, 442 lakes, and another 600 miles of trout streams, Marinette County encompasses some of the best fishing in the state of Wisconsin! When the waters freeze over, pick the body of water of your choosing to set up camp on the ice. 

A secret local fishing hole is Lake Noquebay! This lake is over 2,300 acres and 51 feet deep. And if you’re a true fisherman, you know what that means… Big fish! Lake Noquebay has a variety of species including panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, trout, and walleye. Click here for the map!

Another local ice fishing hotspot is High Falls Reservoir, expanding to over 1,400 acres of water and ice in the winter time! Not only does its size offer endless opportunities to fish, but also a wide range of fish to be caught.
