Palmyra’s Past

Our discovery of Palmyra dates back roughly 20,000 years ago before the hidden village existed. During this ancient and historic time, glacial sheets that once filled the eastern Wisconsin landscapes melted, leaving varying typography.

A part of this unique typography, aside from the grad valleys and sandy hills, are deep kettles, which is where the Kettle Moraine got its name. The Kettle Moraine State Forest, an impressive 120-mile state forest, surrounds the village of Palmyra.

Known as the heartbeat of Palmyra, the village has always and continues to embrace the many sights of nature and invite visitors to experience the tranquility that only nature can offer.

Given their historic and long-lasting connection with nature, our discovery of Palmyra leads us into the present day. The endless streams and state parks offer a plethora of possibilities to explore and reconnect with nature.

The layers of limestone provide a foundation of trails that weave alongside breathtaking ridges and serene lakes. Palmyra is an outdoor oasis for mountain bikers, frisbee golfers, and horseback riders alike. While the trails offer an unmatched tranquility, Zenobia Springs provides a profound connection to nature and is even home to healing waters.

Speaking of waters, at Rushing Waters Fishery, visitors have an opportunity to catch all-natural, farm-raised fish, Rainbow Trout, year-round! With many accessible fishing spots, including 56 natural and pristine ponds, it’s the perfect place to cast a line and unlock a sense of peace in nature.

In addition to Palmyra’s prospering ponds, Palmyra’s soil is rich and fosters industry growth, such as the production of quintessential crops. Intertwining nature with the community, several local businesses utilize nature’s delicacies.

From dining at Palmyra’s welcoming restaurants and sipping on a warm cup of coffee to shopping downtown, Palmyra’s community and businesses keep in touch with the surrounding, pristine environment.

The quaint, undiscovered Village of Palmyra unites nature and community as one. Embark on your unforgettable discovery of Palmyra. Along the way, uncover remnants of the past, like its unmatched typography, and explore the present day, where the community embraces the myriad of nature.
