County Government During the Pandemic | Know Your Wisconsin
Federal and state governments have been at the forefront of headlines as we forge through the first year of the coronavirus pandemic. However, it’s often the county government performing the daily work to keep Wisconsinites safe. Executive Director of the Wisconsin Counties Association, Mark O’Connell, explains, “County government maintains the fabric of society; [we] keep everything together.” Anything from ensuring safe water and food supply, to running our public health system, county government has been what’s kept Wisconsin moving forward. O’Connell goes on to share, “As the saying goes, ‘public health saved your life today, you just didn’t know it.’ But with COVID-19, now we do know it.”
