Frank’s Hill | Know Your Wisconsin



The natural beauty of the Ocooch Mountain Range is an inspiring site in Richland Center. As part of the Shadewald mound group, it is part of the National Registry of Historic Places and is approximately 1,000 years old. The mounds here are divided into air, land, and water spirits, and take the shape of a coyote, a bison, a bird, a beaver, and a snake. These effigy mounds on Frank’s Hill are well-preserved thanks to Frank Shadewald, who purchased the land with the goal of taking care of the mounds.
