Postcard from the Great River Road: Pierce & Pepin Counties
Welcome to Wisconsin’s West Coast! Join DW host Eric Paulsen on his journey down the Great River Road. In this video, we explore the beauty and history of Pierce and Pepin Counties. Starting in Prescott, the northern gateway to the Great River Road, Eric walks along the riverwalk and catches a glimpse of the iconic confluence where the St. Croix River meets the mighty Mississippi. Then it’s time for lunch at the local favorite, Muddy Waters! Next, Eric heads inland to Ellsworth, WI, the Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin. He stops at Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, then heads to the annual Cheese Curd Festival. Back on the Great River Road, he pulls into Lavender Bluff Farm, in Stockholm, WI. It’s a perfect place to stop and smell the…lavender! The adventure continues with a sail on beautiful Lake Pepin, and dinner at the Pickle Factory. From historic towns to natural wonders, this road trip along Wisconsin’s Great River Road is a journey you won’t want to miss.
