Wisconsin's Military Tributes | S33 Ep. 14
Wisconsin’s Military Tributes | S33 Ep. 14
For those who have never served in the U.S. Armed Forces, it’s impossible to truly understand the experiences of America’s veterans and active-duty service members. While it’s impossible to fully repay them for their sacrifices, tributes to the military can be found all across the state. Mariah travels to four distinct places around Wisconsin dedicated to honoring its military history and heroes.
The Military Veterans Museum & Education Center in Oshkosh continues the legacy of military veterans through displays ranging from the Revolutionary War to the present day, along with the largest military vehicle motor pool in the state.
The Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture event draws thousands of history buffs, veterans and aircraft enthusiasts together every year to celebrate the spirit of aviation through air shows and displays honoring the likes of the WWII War Birds and the Tuskegee Airmen.
The Highground in Neillsville not only serves as a beautiful, 155-acre memorial park dedicated to all those who have served, but it also works diligently to connect veterans and their families with mental health resources, veterans retreats and other support networks.
The Village of Camp Douglas and Volk Field Air National Guard Base share a close bond, and that is never more apparent than during the Armed Forces Day celebration every May, where the military and community come together for a weekend of festivities honoring those currently serving.
