Outdoor Adventures: Little Switzerland
Washington County lies in the heart of Kettle Moraine Country–a true winter wonderland this time of year. What better place to explore the glacial terrain than Little Switzerland? Started by Ed Herte, Little Switzerland opened its doors in December 1941.
As the legend has it, a fellow priest walked the property as the snow blanketed the hilly terrain, pronouncing that it looked like ‘Little Switzerland.’ From that day forward, the name stuck, and the community quickly fell in love with this go-to destination full of winter fun. Home to varied terrain, plotted with 19 trails and three parks, Little Switzerland is beloved by all.
Little Switzerland is fueled by the mission to teach beginners and never-evers a life-long sport of skiing and snowboarding. In fact, they offer unique lessons, including Terrain-Based Learning–designed to make learning easier with specially groomed snow. As you get a feel for the basics, instructors and pop-up signs offer quick pointers.
Let the charm and excitement of Little Switzerland inspire you to hit the slopes and create unforgettable memories in this stunning winter landscape.
