This time of year, it’s all about the cool crisp air, the fall outfits on Pinterest and of course, the two days out of the week that are most important: the weekend. Luckily for you folks (and me!), Wisconsin is the place to be in the fall. Let’s dive in to a few of my favorite places in Wisconsin during the autumn months:
Cedar Creek Winery (Cedarburg)
This family-run winery is located in the historic Cedar Creek Settlement in downtown Cedarburg, Wisconsin. They offer an array of traditional-style red, white and blush grape wines that range from dry to sweet. What’s better than to put on a fall outfit and go on wine tastings and tours with your friends and family and buy some of their award winning wine? Answer: Nothing!
Jerry Smith Country Store & Pumpkin Farm (Kenosha)
J. Smith Farms is a 3rd generation family farm. In 1973 the Smith family expanded their produce business by including a fall pumpkin farm. But it’s not all about the pumpkins: There’s also hayrides, corn mazes, face painting, pick-you-own areas for the crops they grow and a petting zoo to boot. The folks at Jerry Smith Country Store & Pumpkin Farm also bake their delicious cookies on site and will be making their own fudge as well this fall. Do not miss out on this kind of family fun!
Northern Harvest Gift Baskets (Eagle River)
Show your good taste by giving a gourmet Wisconsin gift basket from this small family farm in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. Eagle River’s Northern Harvest Gift Baskets grew through their desire to carry on a family tradition of maple syruping. Beyond maple syrup, they also carry Clearwater Coffee, Wisconsin Honey, Wisconsin Cheese, Wisconsin Chocolates and so much more. There is literally a gift basket here for any occasion. (I even spotted one for you football fans…) See for yourself!
Glacial Lake Cranberries and the CranberryLink Visitor Center (Wisconsin Rapids)
This sustainable cranberry marsh has been in continuous operation since 1873. Since cranberries are a must-have item in most families’ breakfast/lunch/dinner meals in the fall, you should really make a point to head out for a one-of-a-kind cranberry tour at Glacial Lake Cranberries in Wisconsin Rapids. One of the oldest cranberry marshes in central Wisconsin, Glacial Lake Cranberries offers tours from the last week of September through the third week in October.
So, tell me, what is your favorite thing about autumn in Wisconsin?
