Like many of our Wisconsinites and their environmental values, UW-Platteville prides itself on being a sustainable campus in Wisconsin. And there, you can use the opportunities to make an impact yourself while you are on campus! One great thing about UW-Platteville is that you’re not only investing in yourself and your future academically but you are also investing in your future through sustainability.
One form of sustainability that UW-Platteville is known for is their large array of solar panels. And to be exact, it is the largest array in the state of Wisconsin that is publicly owned. These solar panels power UW-Platteville currently and have helped set the university on track to have 75% of the campus to be powered off of renewable energy resources in 20 years.
Other ways UW-Platteville is doing their part for the environment is through their Compost Program. This easy sustainable practice is something that everyone can take part in and helps keep food waste out of landfills! Learn more about the compost program here.

When you attend UW-Platteville, you will find yourself living right in the heart of the Driftless Area. The Driftless Area is known as one of the best places to explore whether it’s by foot, car, bike, or boat! Not only that but there are so many things you can do from outdoor activities and historical attractions to shopping and dining!
One thing to be said is that going to college isn’t just for the education, even though we know that is a huge part, but it is also the experience of finding yourself, lifelong friends, and potentially your first home away from home. UW-Platteville is known as an outdoor playground for students. Some popular hobbies many students have are fishing, hiking, camping and kayaking thanks to the beautiful surroundings in the Driftless Area.
Another part of the lifestyle lands in the downtown area of Platteville. This quaint downtown is nestled right in the beautiful rolling hills and shows off the vibrant and growing community in Platteville. Downtown offers a place to get out for a day of shopping in local shops or a fun night out on the town. The unique architecture makes for a beautiful day exploring and a great time enjoying all that Platteville offers.
