Johnson Creek: Cycling, Aztalan, and Founders Float Make for Historical Outdoors (Segment)

Trek Bicycle Group is a cycling group of Johnson Creek that has an extensive history cycling in the area, while upholding a welcoming camaraderie that is alluring to newcomers. The Glacial River Trail runs right through Johnson Creek and is free from intense traffic, making it a desirable trail for the best cycling experience.
The Aztalan State Park (https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/aztalan) is located not far from Johnson Creek, and encloses the ancient town of Aztalan. The State Park was created to preserve the remnants of Aztalan, which was established 1000 years ago as Wisconsin’s first town. Aztalan State Park is an alluring destination for locals and visitors, with beautiful land to explore and an array of events that take place all year round. Upheld by the Friends of Aztalan State Park (www.aztalanfriends.org), the park hosts an array of educational and exciting events for visitors, consisting of celebrations of the Native American culture and history of the site. Ho-Chunk dancers often pay a visit to the site and perform, sharing their traditions with visitors.
Founders Float is an enticing event hosted by the Johnson Creek Historical Society, offering participants a historically engaging, unique experience. The event is a recreation of the trip of Tim Johnson, the founder of Johnson Creek who arrived in the 1830s. Participants of Founders Float are able to immerse themselves in Johnson Creek’s history by paddling down the Rock River, while also soaking up the beautiful and peaceful scenery of the riverfront.
