Wisconsin is home to more than 25,000 miles of snowmobile trails, ranking in the top three trail systems in the nation. President of the Frosty Snowmobile Club, Ken Kusick says the Northwoods is the place to be when snowmobiling. Eagle River, which was officially registered as the Snowmobile Capital of the World in 1964, has 600 miles of trails. These snowmobile trails weave through Vilas and Oneida Counties, the Nicolet National Forest, and around 2,400 lakes. St. Germain is another destination with trails heading in every direction. Minocqua is another favorite with more than 1,600 miles of snowmobile trails that traverse 1,300 glacial lakes and 233,000 acres of public forest land. Lastly, Hurley, the Snow Capital of Wisconsin, gets up to 200 inches of snowfall a year, allowing snowmobilers to ride all the way through the month of April.
