Up first: breweries! Jefferson County is home to several local breweries and tap houses, where you can try something new or, of course, sip on your favorite brew.

Beginning in Lake Mills, there are many must-stops to make for any and all beer lovers. Let’s start at Sunshine Brewing Company, which offers not only a vast selection of handcrafted beers, but also a wide range of Belgian inspired brews. Another Lake Mills gem is Tyranena Brewing Company that’s named after the legend of Tyranena–mysterious stone structures and mounds beneath the waters of Rock Lake. Uncover the ancient mystery with a Legendary Wisconsin Beer in hand.

In Waterloo, head to Hubbleton Brewing Company and enjoy small-town comradery inside the charming taproom with over 10 beers on tap at all times. From year round classics and seasonals to big beers and new releases, you’ll surely find the brew for you.

Home to both 841 Brewhouse and Second Salem Brewing Company, Whitewater has even more in store on this tasty tour! At 841 Brewhouse, sip on a house-brewed wheat, amber, IPA, or stout. For unique, one-of-a-kind flavors, stop by Second Salem Brewing Company and choose from an array of fresh brews including the featured Black Mass, Oktoberfest Ale, and Wildman of Lagrange Hefeweizen.

Onto the wineries of Jefferson County, where the wines are both locally fermented and perfectly paired with unique cuisine.

In this portion of the tour, we’re first taking you to Jefferson, Wisconsin, where Stable Rock Winery shines on the banks of the beautiful Rock River. Given the area’s rich history, Stable Rock embraces its German influence and presents authentic wines and inspired cuisines. For the true Stable Rock experience, try a tasting flight and relish in notes of several amazing wine selections.

Nearby, in Lake Mills, lies Stable Rock’s sister winery, Lewis Station Winery–another must-visit. Known as one of Wisconsin’s most unique and urban wineries, Lewis Station is located in a repurposed gas station! Besides their eccentric and exciting location, Lewis Station is regionally recognized for its small-batch, hand-crafted wines–most notably, “Big Red” wines including their Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon.

After sipping on the smooth, fermented wines in Lake Mills, it’s time to check out Cambridge Winery, located in the community of Cambridge. Cambridge Winery offers exclusive wines from the coasts of California and New York all the way back to the heart of Wisconsin. With wines ranging from rich reds to brilliant whites, there’s a wine that awaits.

Distilleries

Last but not least on our tasty tour of Jefferson County: distilleries! From Jefferson to Lake Mills, this distillery journey is going to be one to remember.

We’re heading back to Jefferson for our first stop at Stable Rock Distillery. At Stable Rock, all spirits are bottled on site and made from fresh ingredients. Taste their rich and robust Horsethief 5-year Bourbon and Goat Island Vodka–made from organic corn. For whiskey fans, try both Boll’s Livery Rye Whiskey and Peanut Butter Whiskey.

Even though our tasty tour in Jefferson County has come to an end, your journey is just beginning! Travel to Jefferson County and visit the best breweries, wineries, and distilleries in the county for yourself! Trust us, you won’t want to miss out on tasting these indulgent brews, smooth wines, and distilled spirits first-hand.
