The generation before April faced cultural suppression, causing a loss of traditional knowledge, especially in basket weaving. Now, it is more important than ever to hold onto those traditions to keep them alive. April personally harvests black ash, emphasizing the connection between the material and using the resources that the land gives us.

After a year of mastering the craft, April started teaching it to others. Now, she travels extensively, using traditional methods to impart the art of basket weaving, playing a crucial role in keeping the tradition alive.
