Don’t let the rural charm fool you – Mount Pleasant is home to nearly 30,000 people. Though it shares a unique puzzle-piece border with its eastern neighbor, Racine, Mount Pleasant is uniquely its own, with rich history, exciting recreational opportunities, and a thriving economy. It’s also becoming quite a destination for some really cool events.

A perfect example of Mount Pleasant events is the USA Cycling Masters and Junior Road National Championships. Racers young and old pedal it out on five, ten and 12-and-a-half-mile courses.

We explore this special Tour of America’s Dairyland event through an interview with Executive Director Bill Koch. We’ll hear what it means to competitors, the community and local businesses.

For being so close to some of the state’s most densely populated and well-connected areas, Mount Pleasant is still an amazing place to enjoy the great outdoors. It boasts over 300 acres of village parks including trails at Pike River, which connect the village all the way to Kenosha along the river and the old North Shore Railroad line.

We learn more about the parks and trails in MP through an interview with a spokesperson involved in the local improvement project. We hear how the village is continually investing in improving its outdoor amenities and how it has always been able to provide that connection with nature despite its proximity to more urban areas – giving residents and visitors the best of both worlds.
Mount Pleasant is also home to several historic businesses. Wells Brothers is just one of several businesses with deep roots in the community. Rasmussen Diamonds over on Washington Avenue is celebrating 125 years. We hear from a spokesperson for Wells Brothers and Rasmussen Diamonds, telling us all about the history and their relationship with the community. They illustrate why Mount Pleasant is the type of place to visit for a weekend or stay and put down roots.
