Tour Wisconsin’s First Urban Cheese Factory
Located in Milwaukee’s historic Walker’s Point neighborhood, Clock Shadow Creamery is an absolute must for every Wisconsin cheese devotee. As the first urban cheese factory in Wisconsin, the creamery is all about arming folks with fresh, local cheese while being environmentally conscious and educating customers about the craft of cheesemaking.
Speaking of going green, Clock Shadow Creamery’s impressive building features a geothermal heating and cooling system, a rooftop garden, rainwater reuse system, a power generating elevator and other ecological innovations.
As for a cheese that comes highly recommended? We suggest nabbing a sample of Quark, the creamery’s melt-in-your-mouth signature Wisconsin cheese, soft and creamy with a bit of a tang. Clock Shadow Creamery is the only cheese factory in the state that makes this popular European cheese! While you’re there you might as well grab some fresh, squeaky cheese curds too!
Cheese and Beer are Not in Short Supply at this Milwaukee Shop…
Just two miles north of Clock Shadow Creamery is a gem of a spot called Wisconsin Cheese Mart & Uber Tap Room. Founded in 1938, the Wisconsin Cheese Mart has grown from a small shop to a leading cheese retailer in the state. They’ve been around for 70+ years but the goal at Wisconsin Cheese Mart has never changed: to celebrate the cheesemakers’ craft, showcase their hard work and innovation, and serve cheese fanatics everywhere!
With over 175 Wisconsin cheeses to enjoy—plus more than 36 tap beers to try next door at Uber Tap Room—we can’t think of a better spot to kick back and relax…Wisconsin-style! Wisconsin Cheese Mart & Uber Tap Room’s in-house cheese bar offers unique pairings of cheese and Wisconsin craft beer, so go with one of their super savvy staff recommendations or step outside the box and create one of your own.
