A Day of Dining in Jefferson County

by websupport | Feb 29, 2024 | Discover Wisconsin Videos

Welcome to a land of tasty sweets, juicy meats and drinkable treats! Jefferson County that is! Here, the smalltown dining scene is no joke. And your buds can a “taste” to it. Today on Discover Wisconsin, Eric Paulsen takes us on a little culinary adventure through Jefferson County’s local dining joints.

We begin with a fresh brewed cup of Joe at Berres Brothers Coffee in Watertown. Buzzed from the beans, we grab a hearty breakfast at Waterloo’s Route 19 Cafe, where the skillets are sizzlin’!

From Route 19 to county highway 18, we pop into Heron’s Landing in Jefferson. Overlooking the Rock River, this is quite the scenic spot for a meal.

Don’t get too comfy though, the river scene continues at Stable Rock Winery and Distillery. Here we enjoy rich wines and chilled spirits alongside a meal with a German flare. Meat and cheese boards, seasonal pizzas and salads, delectable sandwiches and peach bourbon-sauced ham.

Now that we’ve got pork on our minds, we sniff our way over to the family-owned Jones Dairy Farm and Market, a manufacturer of premium sausage, ham and bacon. Don’t forget to try their ice cream! And since it’s the dairy state, we even take you out for seconds at Frostie Freeze in Fort Atkinson!

Nothing like a strong nightcap to warm our throats back up! Fortunately, Jefferson County is no drought when it comes to crisp ales, and cocktails. For a cozy living room vibe, we head to Hubbleton Brewery. Afterwards, we tap into our wild side and dance it up at Tyranena Brewing Company in Lake Mills. Don’t forget the kids! They’ll have just as much fun running through the hops as you have sippin’ em.

Enjoy Jefferson County and see you next time on Discover Wisconsin!

#discoverwisconsin #jeffersoncountywisconsin #fortatkinson
#jeffersonwisconsin #watertownwisconsin #waterloowisconsin #lakemills #route19cafe #dogandshrubdistillery #berresbrothers
#jonesdairyfarm #heronslandingjefferson #rockriver #stablerockwinery
#frostiefreeze #tyranena #hubbletonbrewing

Love Wisconsin? Lake Geneva, It’s Always Been the Place | S35 Ep. 10 $Lake Geneva, one of Wisconsin’s favorite destinations, has a long and colorful history of attracting visitors from around the world. Join Discover Wisconsin as we explore Lake Geneva by lake, land and sky. You’ll discover why … it’s always been the place. There are three beautiful lakes in the Lake Geneva area, each with its own charm and attractions. Lake Geneva Cruise Line offers multiple tours of Geneva Lake, and a favorite is the mailboat tour. In this episode, Discover Wisconsin host Josh Casey gets a front row seat on the Walworth and learns about the unique way mail is delivered during the summer season. We also take a tour to Black Point Estate, one of the many beautiful and historic mansions on Geneva Lake. On land, host Alex Wehrley takes a walk around the Geneva Lake shore path, which is a public footpath that takes you past some of the most beautiful properties in all of Wisconsin. One part of the path, known as the Miracle Path, delights visitors with art and inspirational quotes. Josh takes us to Safari Lake Geneva, where you can get up-close with a myriad of exotic animals. You can even feed giraffes! Then we venture to two other lakes: Delavan Lake and Lake Como. Both lakes offer fishing, water recreation, golf, dining and resorts. The Lake Lawn Queen takes visitors on a narrated tour of Delavan Lake, pointing out some of the Frank Lloyd Wright homes and other area attractions. On Lake Como, DW host Eric Paulsen visits the French Country Inn, once a get-away for Chicago gangsters. Then he enjoys dinner at Mars Resort, one of Wisconsin’s favorite supper clubs. We take to the sky for a different view of Lake Geneva. The Lake Geneva Balloon Company has been offering hot air balloon rides for 20 years! It’s a ride that brings back your sense of wonder, as you quietly float over fields, forests and lakes in beautiful Walworth County. But for an out-of-this-world experience, we stop at Yerkes Observatory, the birthplace of American astrophysics, home of the world’s largest refracting telescope, and school to many of the world’s most brilliant astronomers. Trent Wetmore shows us around the superior terminal facility where we get a look at their campus and pipeline system which transports oil across the country. Did you know that seven to eight gallons of every ten that you put in your car comes from Enbridge’s system?

“There is no no oil production in the state.
