Getting into the Fall Spirit

Tomahawk in autumn is arguably one of the most beautiful and fun-filled times of the year. Even though the temperatures begin to lower, spirits reach an all time high within the community. Throughout the season, the community of Tomahawk gathers together and puts on various, exciting festivities while welcoming one and all.

Start your fall fun off in Tomahawk at the annual Northwoods Fall Ride happening September 14-17! For decades, tens of thousands of motorcyclists have gathered together in Tomahawk. There’s live music everywhere, street dances, vendors, a bike show and raffle, and of course, long winding rides through the Northwoods crisp air and scenic countryside. Visit NorthwoodsFallRide.com for all the event, lodging, and dining details!

October, the heart of fall, has its own fun in store in downtown Tomahawk with an array of fall festivals including Oktoberfest and Fall Fest & Trick or Treating! On October 7th, make your way downtown and make this fall season one to remember. Join the community as they enjoy the traditions of Oktoberfest: drinking beer, eating delicious foods, and of course, celebrating the colorful season. Later, on October 28, immerse yourself in all-things fall at the Fall Fest and fill your basket with candies Trick or Treating around downtown.

Save the date as November nears for the Chamber’s Annual Venison Feed! Each year, for over fifty years, this event is held on the day before the main gun deer hunt begins to gather all hunters together for the ultimate feast. With fresh (and free) venison burgers cooking combined with chips and your favorite soda, it’s irresistible. Grab your blaze orange and get yours before it’s gone.

Winter’s Endless Adventures

When the first snowflakes start to stick on Tomahawk soil, all new holiday fun and adventures follow! Filling the holidays with cheer, Tomahawk is the perfect destination for Christmas and local Christmas shopping.

With a wintery setting and close-knit community, Christmas is truly a magical time of year in Tomahawk, especially Hometown Christmas. Hometown Christmas has it all from a Christmas tree lighting to a holiday-themed parade running through the heart of downtown. The magic continues as local shops offer the perfect gifts to check off your list. Swing by shops including Standard Mercantile and The Knot Haus Gift Gallery for special and unique gifts for the people you love most.

The snow is certainly scenic, but it also makes for endless winter fun in the great outdoors! During the months of January to March, embark on a snowmobiling excursion through Tomahawk’s idyllic winter wonderland–the gateway to the Northwoods. With over 400 groomed trails connecting to 900 miles more of trails in Oneida County, there’s no doubt you’ll have a blast. Or, enjoy the snow at a slower pace, by cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on serene trails in the lovely landscape. To name a few noteworthy nooks, discover the trails of Bradley Park, Timms Hill, and Treehaven

Glide into even more winter adventures on the ice by ice skating in the outdoor elements at Pride Park! If you’re looking for more of a challenge, test your luck and try ice fishing the local lakes including Lake Nokomis, Lake Mohawksin, and Lake Alice, to name a few hotspots. Venture out on Tomahawk’s frozen waters and have a chance to catch an array of fish species including bluegill, largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, and even a notorious musky! If you’re feeling confident, join in on one of the many tournaments for a chance to win big.
