Let’s kick this off with a Wisconsin fun fact: High Cliff State Park is the only state-owned recreational area on Wisconsin’s largest inland lake, Lake Winnebago! While this park is an absolutely amazing place for a day trip, it is also home to its own campground to make your trip or stay a little longer.
High Cliff State Park offers multiple options for everyone with a family campground, outdoor group camp, and an accessible cabin for those with disabilities! At the family campground, there are 112 campsites with 32 having electric hook-ups. Along with that, there are 8 available group campsites. Family campsites are open from May 1 to November 15 and group campsites are open year-round at High Cliff State Park. The best part about the part is that they even allow pets on the grounds! If you’re wanting to stay at their accessible cabin, you can learn more about how to rent the cabin that is available from May to October here
Now we all know camping comes with a bit more fun than just the campsites. At High Cliff State Park, you’ll be able to experience a true Wisconsin gem. The park is right along the Niagara Escarpment and offers excellent views of Lake Winnebago. While visiting you can hike the trails, see all sorts of cliff faces, find lake vistas, and catch wonderful sunsets throughout the trip!

Another absolutely gorgeous camping option in Calumet County is right at the Calumet County Park! This park lies along the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago and has different activities spread out all throughout the year. Best part? Camping at the county park is available year-round on-site! Between April and October, the park is definitely hitting the busy season with the gorgeous Wisconsin summers that we are so lucky to have!
At Calumet County Park there are 71 sites and 59 of them are electric while 4 have water and electric. Worried that there won’t be space for your camper or that your tent is too small? At Calumet County Park they can accommodate campers that are up to 40 feet in length and they also offer up smaller sites for small campers or those who are looking to camp in a tent. And if you get one of their main camping area sites, you may even get a gorgeous view along the shores of Lake Winnebago!
Since this park also lies along the shores of the lake, you’ll need to be sure to take in all of the summer sunshine right on the lake and enjoy the sunrises or sunsets your entire stay. At the park, you can also set out on a hiking or mountain biking adventure with trails for both. And if you’re looking to head out for a bite to eat and don’t want to take a vehicle, you can visit the FishTail Inn Bar & Grill which is within walking distance from the park!
