Know Your Wisconsin: The Community Gathers at the Racine Art Museum

February 29, 2024

The Racine Art Museum (RAM) got its start in 1938 when Jennie Wustum, in honor of her husband, donated her home and property to the city of Racine. She wanted to create an art museum and park that would benefit future generations.

Lena Vigna, the Curator of Exhibitions at the museum noted that “we have a wide variety of things in the galleries at all different times. We change exhibitions on average three times a year. So, inevitably when you come back there’s probably going to be something new!” Not only is the museum everchanging, but it also hosts great art camps and activities for kids of all ages, allowing them to get hands-on artistic experience.

Just down the road from the museum’s downtown location, is a perfect retreat for those looking for inspiration away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Wustum Museum campus includes 13 acres of park, a one-acre formal garden, and the former Wustum home is the center of the campus.
