Travel Back in Time at the Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center | Know Your Wisconsin
Norskedalen in Norwegian means “hidden valley”, and that’s what you’ll find in the coulee region near Coon Valley. The Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center is an open-air museum that is open year-round and has something for everyone! This beautiful nature preserve allows visitors to take a trip back in time and experience the lifestyle of Norwegian immigrants in the mid-nineteenth century. Visitors are welcome to explore Bekkum Farmstead and learn about how the settlers made a living. Don’t forget to take in the serenity of the arboretum and Norskedalen’s many bubbling brooks and streams.
One exciting event taking place this December is an Old-Fashioned Christmas! See a blacksmith make Christmas ornaments in his shop, tour the homestead in a horse-drawn wagon, pick up your favorite Norweigan baked goods and if you’re lucky you may even see Santa! But, no matter the season, the beauty and rich history of Norskedalen offers an experience you won’t forget.
