Wisconsin Road Trip: Exploring Local History and Popular Trails
For the first time in Discover Wisconsin history, our crew hits the road in an RV for a classic Wisconsin “family” road trip! Our only mission: to experience the beauty, the adventure and the charm of Turtle Lake and Barron County (oh yeah, and campfires, s’mores, and stops for cheese curds).
No matter where you’re driving from, the drive to Turtle Lake is beautifully scenic. Upon arrival to Turtle Lake and Barron County, one is offered several fun opportunities of recreation, such as the St. Croix Casino, recreational trails, and great local businesses. The Hotel Bar and Grill is a spot that any visitor must give priority to. What once was a hotel originating in 1920, now serves as a full-time bar and restaurant. A unique history combined with a cozy atmosphere, impeccable service, and delicious food and drinks, say hello to your new favorite up north stop: http://www.facebook.com/HotelBarandGrill
Aside from the Hotel Bar and Grill, the Turtle Lake Museum offers visitors a sneak peek into the town’s lengthy history, providing displays of the farming industry as well as Turtle Lake’s soldiers. Learn more about where to uncover Turtle Lake’s History: http://www.turtlelakewi.com/
Beyond its history, Turtle Lake and Barron County offer opportunities to explore the scenery and terrain of the region. The Cat Tail Trail and Northern Railroad Trail are popular attractions for ATVing, allowing a wide range of trails that allow visitors of all ages and preferences to enjoy the terrain.
With recreational opportunities like kayaking, ATVing, cross-country skiing and mountain biking, a fascinating history, and countless hidden gems… Turtle Lake and Barron County are the ultimate Wisconsin road trip destinations any time of year.
