Praise be to the Wisconsin Supper Club! Where a juicy steak or Friday night fish fry await and the (brandy) Old Fashioned is king! Lawrence Frank, a Milwaukee native, is credited with opening the first supper club in California in the 1930s, and while they reached their peak popularity in the 1950s, these beloved institutions continue to thrive here in Wisconsin. While our state is home to hundreds of supper clubs, people from all across the country voted in Travel Wisconsin’s Supper Club Showdown to determine the top 10. And while the genuine warmth and hospitality, plus a few key menu items (think juicy steaks and tender prime rib) may be found at most supper clubs, each has its own unique flair that makes these dining destinations well worth a visit!
Ishnala Supper Club – Lake Delton: Voted the #1 supper club in Wisconsin, Ishnala Supper Club is just a quick drive outside of downtown Wisconsin Dells. Located within Mirror Lake State Park, guests can enjoy stunning views of the lake from one of Ishnala’s outdoor decks or floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining room.
DW Crew Tip: Kill some time waiting for a table with one of Ishnala’s famous Old Fashioneds.
